What is RF Coaxial Cable
RF coaxial cable refers to a cable with two concentric conductors, and the conductor and shielding layer share the same axis. The insulation material of RF coaxial cable is composed of physical foamed polyethylene isolated copper conductor. Outside the insulation material of the inner layer is another layer of ring conductor, namely the outer conductor. The outer conductor (tissue shielding layer) is formed, welded and banded with copper strip; Or aluminum tube structure; Or adopt braided structure, and then the whole cable is covered by PVC sheath.

Product Classification of RF Coaxial Cable
There are two types of commonly used RF coaxial cables: 50 Ω and 75 Ω RF coaxial cables.
RF coaxial cable with characteristic impedance of 75 Ω is commonly used in CATV network, so it is called CATV cable. The transmission bandwidth can reach 1GHz. The transmission bandwidth of common CATV cable is 750MHz.
The RF coaxial cable with characteristic impedance of 50 Ω is mainly used for baseband signal transmission, and the transmission bandwidth is 1 ~ 20MHz,
The maximum transmission distance of a thin coaxial cable with a general characteristic impedance of 50 Ω is 180 meters, and that of a thick coaxial cable can reach 1000 meters.
The name of RF coaxial cable is related to its structure. RF coaxial cable is also one of the most common transmission media in LAN. The pair of conductors used to transmit information is selected according to the structure that a cylindrical outer conductor is sleeved outside the inner conductor (a thin core), and the two conductors are isolated from each other with insulating materials. The center of the outer conductor and the central axis core line are on the same axis, so it is called radio frequency coaxial cable. The reason why the radio frequency coaxial cable is designed in this way is to prevent external electromagnetic waves from interfering with the transmission of abnormal signals.
According to its diameter, RF coaxial cable can be divided into thick RF coaxial cable and thin RF coaxial cable. Thick cable is suitable for large local networks. Its standard distance is long and its reliability is high. Since it is not necessary to cut off the cable during installation, the network access position of the computer can be flexibly adjusted according to needs. However, the thick cable network must be installed with transceiver cable, which is difficult to install, so the overall cost is high. On the contrary, the installation of thin cable is relatively simple and low in cost. However, because the cable needs to be cut off during the installation process, the two ends must be equipped with basic network connectors (BNC) and then connected to both ends of the T-connector. Therefore, when there are many connectors, it is easy to produce bad hidden dangers, which is one of the most common faults of Ethernet in operation.
Both thick and thin cables are bus topologies, that is, multiple machines are connected to one cable. This topology is suitable for machine intensive environments. However, when a contact fails, the fault will affect all machines on the whole cable in series. Fault diagnosis and repair are very troublesome, so it will be gradually replaced by unshielded twisted pair or optical cable.
